Asus X101 Philippines Price, Specs, Photos The MeeGo Eee PC

Sep 12, 2011

Not only is Asus Eee PC X101 the thinnest netbook that the Taiwanese company has released so far, it's also the most affordable.

Measuring only 17.6 millimeters at its thickest point, Asus X101 will come with a price tag of roughly Php 10,000 when it gets released in the Philippines either later this month or early in Octobe

Asus X101 runs MeeGo operating system, which should be good enough for writing blogs, uploading photos and staying connected with friends in social networking sites. MeeGo on the X101 brings the internet to users in a new intuitive interface, integrating Facebook, Twitter and popular wevsites onto the homepage for quick access.

On top of MeeGo, there's also ASUS' App store where users can download applications and stay productive and entertained, and Chrome Webstore that features apps, games, themes and extensions for Google Chrome web browser. Also available is access to asus @vibe, which provides easy and convenient access to rich cloud computing content. As an added bonus, Dropbox online storage is preloaded so X101 users can seamlessly sync files across their desktop, smartphone and netbook.

TP Thoughts:

When I first heard about Asus X101 earlier this year, I kinda hoped that ASUS would end up offering the netbook as a dual-booting machine able to load into either MeeGo or Windows 7. MeeGo is alright; It lets you blog, read e-books, log-in to social networking sites, and write notes, among other stuff. But obviously, there are just more things you can do on a Windows PC -- because there are more softwares and applications that support that operating system.

But I don't know. I've yet to play with an actual unit. I hope Asus bothers to send us one for review so we can tell you if it's any good.

Meanwhile, I'll leave this question to you: At around Php 10,000, do you think Asus X101 running MeeGo OS offers great value for money? Let me know.
