This year has been a good year for Samsung by all accounts. The Samsung S4 was well received but still lots of people didn't see it as anything ground breaking, but here at TizenExperts we understand what ground breaking is and what it takes to achieve it. Even year on year improvements in hardware specifications are not a small feat to achieve.
Roll on to 2014 and the specifications of the Samsung S5 are looking like something that will make Smartphone-a-holics drool. The display is a quad HD (2,560 x 1,440-pixel) display. Yes, Yes, we hear you, Why have something so high resolution but lets see it first before we knock it.
Next, according to Korea-language IT Today, the Samsung Galaxy S5 may also feature a next-generation 64-bit 8-Core Samsung Exynos processor which will be backed by 4GB of low-power DDR4 RAM, which is a 20-nanometer RAM, offering 50% better performance than conventional LPDDR3 RAM and consumes 40% less power.
The new chips will target “large screen UHD smartphones, tablets and ultra-slim notebooks that offer four times the resolution of full-HD imaging, and also on high-performance network systems,” Samsung said in its press release.
If that wasn't enough reason to get one we could also be looking at eye scanner retina security and a 16-megapixel camera with enhanced technology that improves low-light photo quality. This monster of a phone will have a 4,000 mAh battery, Android 4.4 KitKat and a premium metal case, that should satisfy the people that hate Samsung's normal plastic construction. All the rumours point to a Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014 Launch event but we will have to see.
Will we see a Samsung S5 Tizen Device? Samsung is keeping its cards close to its chest but there is no chance in the short term for this to happen. Tizen isn't quite ready for this device for a Q1 2014 Launch but we can hope that it is offered later in 2014.
