Backendless provides desktop and mobile application developers the ability to build native applications without server side coding, by utilizing standard server functions, this in turn enable developers to concentrate on their application(s) and the ever important User Experience (UX), instead of the server side.

The following are supported features:

  • User management
  • Relational data
  • Push notifications
  • Publish/subscribe messaging
  • Geolocation
  • Video/audio recording
  • Live streaming on the server
  • File service

The services are provided through their API and SDKs are available for the most popular environments: iOS, Android, JavaScript, ActionScript, Windows Phone and REST.

“Ultra-scalable Backendless platform was created by developers and for developers. By solving their problems we hope to significantly simplify the way apps are being developed. The task of writing client side can be solved by many, but development of reliable, scalable, persistent server code demands professionals with exceptional qualifications. Now, with Backendless those server characteristics are available to anyone. In addition, you have at least twice as less tasks to build and launch the project“, – says Mark Piller, Backendless founder and CEO..

The Backendless team wanted to see if they could integrate a Tizen app with Backendless which would enable power features such as the ability of data can be easily shared between different implementations of an application, a Tizen version of the app can easily communicate with the one running on Android or iOS by the means of Backendless service APIs.

Below are two examples, which originally came from the Tizen SDK. The video below reviews the integration and shows how the data can be exchanged between a JavaScript application and a Tizen app:

The modified source code of the app is available in the Backendless GitHub repository.
