UPDATE: Samsung have released another update, but it seems that also has some issues. Check out the post here

The Samsung Gear Manager software that runs on Android devices has been updated to version 2.2.14090599. We now get a lively splash of orange going through the app as well as added support for the Gear Circle bluetooth headset. There is no full change log, so there might be some bug fixes, but we have no information on that at the moment.

There are people complaining of issues since updating to this version, so if you don't need support for the Gear Circle, I would advise skipping this update and waiting for the next one.

  1. Wish I read this before updating - smart lock, screen wake and notifications have stopped - unreal

  2. My Gear Manager just won't work at all, just pops up a message "Unfortunately, the Gear Plug-In has stopped working" or whatever!!
Just left a message of complaint with Samsung...not sure if it will do any good...also, after the update, my Multi-Watch app had disappeared from the S5, not even in the download directory! Not a trace!

    1. I have the same issues. Tried going back to previous version but every time I try to start GM the insists on updating. How frustrating!

Have you had any luck fixing the issue?

      1. Hi, all.
I contacted Samsung, and was told (on Friday evening, Oz time) that their application engineers are aware of the problem and are working to create patches which will be released a s a new update when they are finished...no dates, sorry. All they can say is that they are aware the update was broken...

        1. Okay, Ron. I have now got it working again...I assume this means that the problems with the Gear Manager are now fixed. I uninstalled all the Gear stuff from my S5, then I reinstalled the Gear Manager from the Galaxy Apps site. I bit the bullet and allowed it to update and reset my Gear back to factory spec, then do the 8 installs it wants to do. I then connected with the Gear again. Last stage was to uninstall the S5 Multiwatch app (from Google Play) and reinstalled it from scratch again. At this point, it was able to see the Gear again, and having reset the Gear clock to "Multiwatch" (again) I was able to send existing multi-watch faces from my S5 Downloads area to the Gear. Then I used the edit mode on the Gear Multi-Watch to load the face I wanted off the Gear download directory, and it worked properly. (At last!)
I hope this helps someone...if not, well, "I'm alright, Jack!" so tough bickies! Best I can do, sorry.

  3. I had similar issues and found that rebooting my Gear 2 resolved them all. I hope that helps!

  4. Upon the launch of the app, it immediately displays an error message saying that the plugin stopped. Any one know when it will get fixes?

  5. Same thing here for me. All notifications just stopped except for the sms messages notification. When will Samsung be able to fix this error?

  6. Gear plug in stopped working. My watch reset to factory settings and now I cannot change settings very disappointed in samsung.

  7. Just spoke to Samsung about this and they said they are working very hard on a fix and will do something as soon as possible. They wouldn't give me any idea of the timeframe. Just a quick note for Australian readers. You could probably return the Gear under the "not fit for purpose" part of consumer law. Then go out and buy a non Samsung smart watch that doesn't rely on their buggy software.

  8. Samething happened to me. I did a reset - Ohh - don't do that. Now I get stuck on the installationscreen on the gear without any other functionality - so don't reset your gear!! 🙁

  9. Same to me, the gear plug in has stopped keeping show to my note 3,and now I can not install any program into my gear 2

  10. I updated my gear to Tizen the other day, I guess somewhere around there the S5 updated to the newest gear app. thus, now my pedometer on the Gear will not sync with the S5. However, the Gear app on the S5 does show that it "is" connected to the Gear watch. Suggestions??

  11. Samsung is losing my respect due to this watch that is basically a expensive table weight now that they are forcing us to use tizen which doesn't work. I cant connect to my phone and cant connect to gear manager this sucks and I want my money back

  12. I am ready to purchase Samsung Gear S, I would like to know if I can use the Samsung Gear Manager that I downloaded to my Galaxy Tab S to transfer the needed files/apps to the Gear S smartwatch? I do not own a Samsung phone... may get the Edge later on.

      1. just want to know if it's possible as I have not seen anything that indicates this. All I've seen so far is that you need a certain Samsung Galaxy phone in order to use the Gear S and no mention that you can use the Samsung Galaxy Tab S to do the same thing.

        1. i've never seen this done, and my gut feeling is that it will cause lots of problems, but please see if you can do it and let me know directly 🙂

          1. I have a Tab S 8.4 LTE as a phone and it doesn't connect with my new Gear S, what a shame!!!

  13. Why like this? getting 99% of Additional Download but it cant be 100% why like this? Now i cannot use my Gear 2 Neo anymore?

  14. After the update, the app totaly crashed. I reinstalled the app with no use... Now, i installed the older version that you post but even this version have problems. I can't connect to my gear. And after 20 seconds the app close. Now the watch is no use because if it isn't paired with the phone, i can't see hour or something else. What do i have to do?

  15. Tried to download Samsung Gear to Galaxy Note 5 - told Gear doesn't work with this phone. That's scary! My new Gear S 2 Classic watch looks great - be nice if it worked, Samsung needs to be able to say to new watch owners 1) Here's your software (not make me hunt for it in several places) and 2) Have it work the first time. Great products - but this looks like an extremely weak link right now.

  16. Will gear 2 is ever going to work with samsung tab s2. I received a gear 2 as a present and i never ever used a samsung phone before so i bought a latest samsung tab s2 thinking it will work with gear but to my surprise it didn't. so will i ever be able to use that piece with my tab s2 or not.
