Nikon isn’t aquiring Samsung’s NX camera technology

Dec 7, 2015

We have already reported on Nikon acquiring Samsung’s NX camera technology, that would help Nikon into the world of professional Compact System Camera (CSC). But now it appears that might not be correct. According to a statement provided to Amateur Photographer (AP), Samsung have stated: ‘Media reports that Nikon is allegedly buying our NX technology are not true.’

The NX range such as the NX1 and NX500 are Tizen based Smart cameras that offer great image quality, blazing performance in terms of 'cold boot' and autofocus times. They also offer greater portability than bulkier the bulkier DSLR cameras that they were competing against. Unfortunately, Samsung have felt the squeeze between the DSLR and high end CSC market and were unable to find their feet. Samsung are due to phase out their Camera sales in the UK.

Nikon refused to comment on what they called rumours. All eyes are fixed on CES 2016 for a possible Samsung camera announcement.
