Gear S3 gets a firmware update

Also, Samsung have sent out a firmware update for the Gear S3 Classic and the Gear S3 Frontier. Post update you will be on version R770XXU1APK3 (Classic) / R760XXU1APK3 (Frontier). Apparently the update is supposed to bring with it support for a speedometer, but that has not been confirmed at the moment.

It usually take a short while for the update to reach all regions so you might have to wait a little while for it to be your turn. We will have our hands on review of the S3 up shortly, but in the meanwhile you can see our unboxing video of this smartwatch.

  1. I noticed the update is for R770 and R760. Thoughs are for the Bluetooth versions of the Samsung Gear S3. Will there be a update for the R765.

  2. Just got my gear fit2 last week and have been using it daily, however I noticed some major problems. First the floors climbed calculation is way off like I climb 0 per day and it's registers 250+. Second, the calorie calculation doesn't even account for heart rate. So it's a number based on time and activity selected. So if on day I do 30 mins on a treadmill and a good a hr of 90 bpm(walking for 30 mins) it'll say I burned 300 cars. Repeat the same work out the next day, but average 150bpm(running for 30 mins) it'll still Calc about 300 cals

The home screen on the watch displays steps, floors, and calories. 2 of those are flawed numbers what's to say the 3rd isn't.

If you're looking for a true fitness and health tracker to help you understand how many calories you're burning so you make sure your eating enough, drinking enough, etc. Then I would recommend something that factors in effort(via your hr) when you excercise. This is basically a pedometer combined with a hr monitor that is not used for anything but to display a hr.
