Samsung starts rolling out the Gear S3 in Korea. More markets to be added from November 18

Starting from November 18th, the Gear S3 will be launched in more markets which include Korea, Australia, Dubai, France, Germany, Singapore, U.K., and U.S.

After announcing pre-orders in multiple countries for the Gear S3, Samsung have now started the roll-out of the smartwatches starting with their country of origin- South Korea. Samsung also announced in a press release that starting from November 18th, the Gear S3 will be launched in more markets which include Australia, Dubai, France, Germany, Singapore, U.K, and U.S.

The Gear S3 is available in two design variants- Gear S3 Frontier and the Gear S3 Classic. The Gear S3 Frontier boasts of a sporty and rugged look while the Gear S3 Classic is more suited for the corporate world thanks to its sleek 'timeless' design. The Gear S3 have room for customization as both the straps on both the smartwatches can be replaced with any 22mm watch band. Both the Tizen based smartwatches have the unique rotating Bezel which was first introduced in the Gear S2. The Gear S3 smartwatches feature an Always-On display so you can always see the time on them like a regular watch. The smartwatches are also IP68 certified providing them water and dust resistance.

Both the smartwatches feature a 1.3” Circular Super AMOLED display with a 360 x 360, 278ppi along with Corning Gorilla Glass SR+ protection. The smartwatches are embedded with a dual core exynos processor along with 4GB of internal storage and 768 MB of RAM. The smartwatches have an array of sensors embedded in them like GPS, Barometer, accelerometer, HRM, gyro, etc to track fitness activities and monitor weather. The smartwatches are powered by a 380 mah battery which Samsung claims can keep it running for 4 days.

The Gear S3 Frontier is also available in a LTE variant, which Samsung announced that it will be introduced in South Korea, U.S., and select countries. All the Gear S3 variants also feature MST payment capability (and the first smartwatch to do so). This enables the smartwatches to make payments just by tapping their credit or debit cards on them. Samsung Pay will be made available in the U.S., Australia and Singapore initially at the launch.
