Earlier this year, Samsung has launched Gear IconX (2018) activity tracking wireless earbuds. They are an improved version of the original Gear IconX (2016). In a bid to make the earbuds even more reliable, Samsung has today rolled out a new firmware update for Gear IconX (2018). It’s a minor update that brings Bluetooth improvements.
The latest firmware version R140XXUAQJ2 for the Gear IconX (2018), that Samsung launched today, brings improvements in Bluetooth stability. The update is available for download in all countries. To download the update, navigate to Samsung Gear > SETTINGS on your phone. Touch About Gear and then touch Update Gear Software. You’ll see the following two options:
The Gear IconX (2018) is currently available in three colours: black, gray and pink for 229.99 euro.
Measuring 18.9 x 21.8 x 22.8 mm, the Gear IconX (2018) weighs just 8 grams per earbud. It has an 82mAh battery with quick charge feature. The battery has a potential of offline music playback of up to 7 hours and a talk time of up to 4 hours. That’s a significant improvement over the original Gear IconX (2016), which had a music playback of only 90 minutes. The earbuds feature 4GB internal storage capacity. The Gear IconX (2018) is also capable of launching Bixby when paired with compatible devices like the Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S8. They also feature an accelerometer and a heart-rate monitor for activity tracking.
