Next in the pipeline for Samsung is the Galaxy Note 9, scheduled for 9 August in New York. However, it's not the Note 9 that's creating more buzz right now, but the company's upcoming smartwatch, the Gear S4. Rumors about the Gear S4 has been doing the rounds for quite some time, and they don't seem to fade anytime soon. The big question surrounding it is whether it'll run on Samsung's Tizen OS or Google's Wear OS.

Samsung Gear S4 - Tizen or Wear OS

Late in May, popular leakster Evan Blass (@evleaks), claimed to have spotted some Samsung employees wearing Wear OS-powered Samsung smartwatches. The claim fitted in line with Samsung trademarking the Galaxy Watch moniker ten days earlier. However, some three weeks later, Evan confirmed the watches weren't made by Samsung, but were one-off devices provided to some Samsung employees by Google.

But just when things seemed to have ceded a bit, another leakster, Ice Universe, has claimed that the Gear S4 will come with Wear OS and support UX interaction. The new Samsung model will also offer blood pressure monitoring in addition to other fitness-focused features.

For those who are not aware what PLP package mean, it stands for Panel Level Package. It's a technology through which chips are made cheaper and slimmer, freeing-up more space to fit in a bigger battery. And as we talk about bigger battery, the Gear S4 will feature a battery of capacity 470mAh. That's 90mAh larger than the Gear S3’s 380mAh.

It's still not known when Samsung will launch the device. But with the Gear S4 picking up ECC certification and wireless charger certification in late June, we hope it's not too far away. Probably alongside the Galaxy Note 9 in August 9, or may be at IFA 2018 in Berlin in September. Some exciting times ahead for Samsung lovers like me.
