During the Samsung press conference at IFA 2018, the company announced their new Q900FN QLED 8K TV. The Smart TV should be available in the United States by October. According to Samsung, the Q900FN will feature all the benefits of Samsung's flagship QLED line.
The Q900FN features real 8K resolution and is able to reach a 4,000 nit peak brightness (which is a standard that is employed by many Hollywood studios). This feature allows the TV to produce four times more pixels than a 4K UHD TV and 16 times more pixels than a full HD TV.
The AI-powered 8K Upscaling technology enhances lower resolution video feed inputs as well. Whether someone is watching content through a streaming device, mobile-mirroring, HDMI, USB or others, the 8K Quantum Processor is able to upscale the content to make it seem like it's in 8K quality. The Q900FN TV features Direct Full Array Elite for an enhanced contrast and precise backlighting control. Like all the other QLED models, this TV also delivers100% Colour Volume which means people "can experience billions of shades of colour"
The Q900FN features new functions. For example, Ambient Mode has been made to blend the TV in with space around it. One Invisible Connection, which is a 5-meter cable (but is also available in 15 meters), is a cable that incorporates the optical cable and power into one thin cord. This helps to give users freedom where they want to place their TV.
Samsung will be showcasing this new TV and audio announcements in their booth at IFA that is in the City Cube, Berlin on Level 2.
