The Galaxy Watch Active 2 launch has finally taken place today. From when the public discovered that Samsung had been working on the smartwatch a month ago, it has built lots of hype around it.

From the launch, the Galaxy Watch Active 2 can manually track 39 of your workouts - the same number as its predecessor. These workouts include the same walking, running, cycling, rowing machine and the elliptical trainer. Importantly, more dynamic workouts can be activated automatically. To help monitor your running pace in real-time, the Running Coach has been updated.

If you wanted to have access to data on your Galaxy Watch Active, you would need to keep it connected to your smartphone. Now, this isn't a problem anymore as the Galaxy Watch Active 2, LTE variant, can directly make and receive calls as well as data. As well as that, the smartwatch can interact with your social media. The smartwatch can also translate text in over 16 languages, let's just hope it's more accurate than Google Translate. The watch obviously has the normal Samsung services. These include Samsung Pay, Bixby, SmartThings and Samsung Health.

Tracking Features

You can also track your sleep and stress faster because the sensors on the back have been improved. The new dazzling new features include the ECG, the AFib notifications and fall detection. All three are really good features to keep you happy and healthy. Unfortunately, as you may know, is that the ECG feature needs FDA approval so Samsung may have to keep the feature disabled at the time of the release.

Galaxy Watch Active 2 launched today!

Both the 44mm and 40mm have a 360x360 Super AMOLED display but the 44mm model will have 1.4-inch whereas the 40mm will have a 1.2-inch. The Galaxy Watch Active 2 utilises the Exynos 9110 Dual-core processor. On the storage side, the smartwatch has 768MB of RAM and 4GB internal storage. The LTE variants get 1.5GB RAM. The 44mm model has a 340mAh battery whereas the 40mm has 247mAh. The Galaxy Watch Active 2 connects to third-party devices with Bluetooth 5.0. The watch has a water resistance of IP68 meaning that it can survive 50 meters of water for about 10 minutes. It also has a MIL-STD-810G certification.

The physically rotating bezel has bitten the dust as the new Touch Bezel comes into play. When you swipe your finger on the area, the UI responds to it. It's pretty cool if you ask me. The One UI on the smartwatch has been upgraded to provide a more natural user experience.

The My Style Feature

Another good feature that lets you further customise your Galaxy Watch Active 2 is My Style. What it does? It lets you match your smartwatches watch face to your outfit. You simply take a picture of what you're going to wear and the colour extracting algorithm will match the watch. It gives you five different colour patterns for you to choose from.

Watch Camera Controller

The Watch Camera Controller app on the smartwatch lets you shoot images on the connected smartwatch. From there you can also switch the camera that you are using, set a timer and record videos. You can also then view your video/images straight from your wrist. Samsung states that this app should be available for the Galaxy S10e, S10, S10+, Galaxy S10 5G, Galaxy Note 9, Galaxy S9, and S9+. The Note 10 and Note 10+ have not been stated but it's likely that the new flagship devices will have this nifty feature.

The 40mm and 44mm cases can be bought in lightweight aluminium with a fluoroelastomer (FKM if you don't want to deal with the mouth full) band. The stainless steel version comes with a leather strap instead. The aluminium versions are available in the colours Cloud Silver, Aqua Black and Pink Gold. The stainless steel will be available in the colours Black, Silver and Gold. The LTE variant of the smartwatch will only be available in stainless steel.

Now finally, after the launch of the Galaxy Watch Active 2, we know the planned release date for it. The 23rd of September in the US! Other market availability to be announced soon.
