Are you a person that likes to take your outdoor adventures seriously? Then Komoot may be the app for you. This app lets you plot your route. As well as this, it lets you plan what type of trail you want - "Solitary trails for your runs, smooth asphalt for your road bike, singletracks for your mountain bike or peaceful paths for your hikes, Komoot generates sport-specific, topographic routing, tailor-made for your outdoor experiences."
As well as this, the creators of Komoot have teamed up with scientists from Berlin's Beuth University. Together, they developed Komoot's topographical teardowns and have refined it so it sits well on your smartphone screen.
Something that some of you may appreciate is the fact that the app is available on Apple and Samsung smartwatches. So you can ditch the phone at home or in a pocket and let your smartphone lead the way. This is really useful if you are biking and can't have your smartphone at hand. If you activate voice navigation, you'll get instructions from the app - like Google Maps but for adventures.
No connection? The app has offline maps. All you need to do is download your planned route to your device and you're good to go.
After you've finished tracking your route, it will automatically be added to your Komoot account. As well as this, you can add photos, highlights and tips to build a type of adventure log. As well as this, when you save, you can either keep it private or share it to the Komoot community.
Like many other things, this one doesn't come free. When you first sign up to Komoot, you get a single region for free. This region is an area that is good for regular adventures and is close to your home.
After that, you can purchase another 'Single Region'. This comes with a price of £3.99. This is a place close to your home and you also get voice navigation, offline maps, weekly update, no reoccurring costs and it can be used on all your devices.
If you decide to purchase a 'Region Bundle' you'd be getting several regions that are good for extended hikes and rides. Like the Single Region, you also get voice navigation, offline maps, weekly update, no reoccurring costs and it can be used on all your devices. This comes with a price of £8.99.
